Exploit Boston Game Night in Allston on Tues, December 5th! Nov. 16th, 2006 @ 11:57 am
Exploit Boston Game Night is a fun, social board game night in Allston. We provide lots (and lots) of board and card games for you and your friends. As of November 2006 the event has a new home at Soul Fire, the tasty (and new) BBQ restaurant in Allston at 182 Harvard Avenue. It’s up the street from the Green Line’s “B” train stop at Harvard/Comm Ave. Come for dinner at 7PM and then stay for the board games. There are usually between 35-70 people at each game night. Soul Fire is working on getting their liquor license and they are pretty sure they’ll have it in time for the next game night.

Directions to Exploit Boston Game Night:
Take the Green Line’s “B” train to the Harvard Ave/Commonwealth Ave stop. Walk down Harvard Ave with McDonalds on your right. Soul Fire is a couple blocks down Harvard Ave on your right. You can also take the 66 and 57 bus. Check mbta.com’s trip planner for bus directions.

Hey guys, from the north shore area and I write a web site about a group of gamers. You might not know the people the characters are based on, but you're bound to accosiate with people just like them. It's got about 60 updates done so far in the archives and it's updated just about daily. Check http://www.gamer-joe.com to read it.

Also, if there's any gamers in the Amesbury area, I'm looking for a game.

With the holiday's coming up fast, its time to start thinking about the "giving" part of the season. So I have one to throw out to you as well, that's still gamer related. :) Penny Arcade, one of the web comics that I read fairly regularly, has their own charity called Child's Play.

Here's a brief summary of Child's Play, thanks to their website:

"At the most basic level Child’s Play is a way for gamers to help sick kids in Children’s Hospitals. These hospitals obviously receive plenty of donations year round but what we learned is that the money they get for the most part is spent on things much more important than toys. Things like medicine and equipment are a bigger priority than say Crash Bandicoot.

These Kids need toys though. They need games to play and crafts to make in order to take their minds off their situations. Something as simple as a Game Boy can make the stay in one of these Hospitals much more bearable for a kid. That my friends, is where we come in. Penny Arcade has teamed up with Amazon to create wish lists for Children’s hospitals all over the world this year. Each list is full of age appropriate games and toys. You simply select a hospital from the map and choose a gift. Easy as pie.

These toys are used in a number of different ways. First they get distributed to kids in the hospitals during the holidays. They are also given out to the brothers and sisters of these kids who often times end up spending all their time at the Hospitals as well. Many of the toys will go to re-stock the play rooms and activity centers in the Hospitals. Finally some of the toys will be stored and then given to kids throughout the year as they come out of surgery."

I just found this community by clicking the "larps" link on my interests page and seeing what popped up. I was interested in other games in the Boston area, as I live in Southern New Hampshire.

(shameless plug time) If anyone wants to play a fairly cheap LARP in the southern Mass area, then go to www.drakon.net. I've been playing for about a season, and its a lot better than some other games my friends have played. If anyone's interested in checking it out, we're still growing (only in our fourth season), and welcome anyone who wants to come is more than welcome. We need NPCs too!!

Likewise, if anyone knows of cheap LARPS in the Southern NH area, I'd love the links.

First off, I want to apologize for this post but I wanted to let it be known that I have put my entire Shadowfist collection on eBay. This is a great thing to split between friends, to get new players involved, and to raid for your own decks (18076 cards in all). http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5244120485 Thanks for your time and patience.
